Development of Alumat d.o.o.

The company’s beginnings date back to the 17th century, when a water-powered smithy developed on this site. In 1825 a larger craft workshop was established, which turned to copper processing and gradually grew into an industry. In 1961 the company finally switched to processing aluminium and aluminium alloys. The Žičarna plant, the precursor of Alumat d.o.o., operated within Impol until 1 January 1995; since then the company has been independent and privately owned. The company employs 43 workers and generates about EUR 6 million of annual revenue, about 80% on foreign markets.

Development projects

Green alloy for welding aluminium and its alloys

Alumat d.o.o. took part in the TKT Academy (Phase A), where a sustainability and circularity strategy for 2025–2029 was prepared with a mentor. The implementation project “Green alloy for welding aluminium and its alloys” runs from 15 Jan to 15 Aug 2025. Eligible costs approx. EUR 147,073.57, expected co-financing approx. EUR 73,536.78. Funded by the European Union – NextGenerationEU.
